Things To Do In Pai

My my Miss Thailand Pai. Not quite the lyrics but works! If you’ve not had the chance to visit Pai you really must! Pai is full of amazing scenery thanks to its mountains and waterfalls, so it’s a must visit if you love to cruise around on your scooter! Check out our little guide on Things To Do In Pai!

Visit the Grand Canyon During Sunset

After a 5 to 10 minute walk climbing up the Grand Canyon in Pai, you’ll be greeted by the best view Pai has to offer. At the top, you’ll get a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and mountainscapes. Once you have got your photos, then explore the bushy woods and search for fragrant flowers. The Pai Grand Canyon has many viewpoints, however, the footpaths aren’t the sturdiest, so remember to wear your best walking shoes.

Explore Tham Lod Cave

One of the best day trips for any traveller wanting to gain a connection with nature. Tham Lod Cave translates to ‘cave where the river runs through’. Travellers will get to see wall paintings, antique wooden coffins, stalactites in weird shapes in a cave that remains largely untouched. Getting to the site is done via bamboo raft, with fishes zipping in the water, which can be booked through a local travel agent.

Cross the Pai Memorial Bridge

The Pai Memorial Bridge, known as Saphan Prawatsart, is a historic landmark dating back to World War II. In the early 1940s, the Japanese wanted an easy route from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son to transport supplies. Thai villagers and elephants were forced to build the bridge, which was burnt down shortly after the war ended. Between then, and 1970, the bridge was restored but then destroyed by floods.

Try Muay Thai

Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand. With a huge range of Muay Thai gyms available, we recommend Charn Chai Muay Thai Gym. This Muay Thai gym boasts a range of programmes available, from beginner to the more experienced, starting from just 300 baht for an hour and a half. The atmosphere in the Gym makes every guest feel like they are part of the family. Apart from the friendly trainers, the clean environment and facilities are the bonuses that attract visitors.

Hot Springs

If you’ve ever joined us for our Krabi Jungle Tour you’ll know exactly how relaxing hot springs can be. Well, if you enjoyed them in Krabi or haven’t had the chance to, you’re in luck! In Pai you have the chance to experience the hot springs at 2 different locations.

There’s Tha Pai Hot Spring and Sai Ngam Hot Spring, both them great places to relax, however, depending on what type of vibe you’re on will dictate which one is best for you. If you’re looking for the closest option then the Tha Pai Hot Spring is the one for you, if you’re looking for a less crowded option then the Sai Ngam Hot Spring is the one to hit up.

Tha Pai is only 8km from the centre so it’s very close, however it does cost 300b entrance. Sai Ngam is 15km away but it is only 20b. So you have a decision to make! It’s also worth noting that if you choose to go to the Tha Pai Hot Springs, you can always stop off at Chedi Phra Temple which is on the way!
